While the booklet can be tailored to suit each individual or band, it follows the same basic path through the basics of Snare Drum, and into the first drum scores - including Massed Bands settings.

The opening section of the booklet explains everything the beginner might need to know about Pipe Bands, Drum Score Notation, and how to hold the sticks. There follows over 20 pages of exercises designed to guide the drummer onto their first scores, which will include Massed Bands setings and any basic scores required to fit a band's repertoire.
